Zzzzzzzz

Yesterday I went to Mommy's work with her while she picked some stuff up. On our way home we stopped at Babies-R-Us so that Mommy could buy me a new automatic burrito blanket, because I'm too big for my old one. So last night I slept in it for the first time. I liked it because I could move my arms and legs around inside a little bit, but I couldn't get them out where they can startle me. And guess what? I officially SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT for the first time. I slept from 8pm until 5am! Mommy was so shocked when she looked at the clock when I woke her up. Then we ate breakfast and I went to sleep for another two hours.

I'm moody.

I'm in a bad mood and there's nothing you can do about it.

OMG! The hands do other things!

Well! This morning started out like any other. I was playing with Mommy on my activity mat, like we always do. She took one of the toys I like to look at off and put it near one of the hands. And then, guess what! The hand grabbed it! I'm not even kidding. I mean, I knew the hand could hold onto Mommy or Daddy's finger, but I didn't know it could hold onto something other than a finger. And then the arm moved around and the toy went with it! It came near my mouth too and I almost got it in there, but not quite.

It was amazing. Fortunately Mommy had her camera nearby so she was able to record this momentous occasion.

I can't wait to see what else the hands can do!

Back in the burrito

When I was at the hospital the ladies in the nursery wrapped me up really tightly in an Owen-burrito. I liked that because I felt snug and I didn't have to worry about my arms and legs startling me too much. Mommy and Daddy were not very good at wrapping Owen-burritos, so they stopped doing this. But then Mommy read some book that talked about ways to help babies sleep better, and they said that burritos were helpful. So Mommy bought a blanket that is an automatic burrito blanket - it just velcros shut - and now I sleep in that. And its working pretty good, I think, because I have been sleeping longer - sometimes up to 7 hours at a stretch!

Here's me taking a nap in my crib wrapped in my burrito blanket.

Hee!

I did something else new today. I laughed at my daddy! When he came home from work today I smiled at him and then laughed. He and Mommy both seemed pretty excited, and they both laughed too. So I did it again. I did it three times actually. Maybe sometime soon I'll let them catch me laughing with the video camera. We'll see.

Until then, here's a picture of me in my cute hedgehog outfit! Mommy and Daddy bought this shirt for me because Mommy loves hedgehogs. I know I look super stylish, but I actually wasn't so nuts about wearing this. I'm not sure how I feel about pants yet. I like those one piece sleepers better for now.

The Buggle's got skillz!

Awwww yeah. I am all over these hands and arms now. Not only can I jam my entire fist into my mouth at will (most of the time), I can also HIT THINGS. I never even noticed this particular thing before today. Now I've a) noticed it and b) hit it. I totally rock.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you all had a good Valentine's day! My first one was great. Mommy dressed me in my special Valentine's day outfit, including jeans. I got a few Valentines already, and I'm only 6 weeks old!

My friend, the birdy

Mommy and Daddy got me this cool activity mat to play with. I like to lay on it and watch the birdy that flies over my head.

I'm learning how to do new stuff all the time now. One thing I just learned is that I can also use the arms to reach up at things. Yesterday I was sitting with my birdy and I reached my arm up to try to touch it. My arm is a little too short right now, but hopefully I'll be able to reach it soon.

Yellow sprinkler

See my shirt? It says that I am an automatic sprinkler. Ain't that the truth!

Its my hand and I'll suck if I want to

Sometimes I am in a bad mood and I like to suck on things. I remember when I was Studs, I used to suck on stuff that was nearby. Then all of a sudden, none of those things were nearby anymore. What the heck?
I started to notice these strange hands that would show up near my mouth sometimes, and I'd try to suck on those, but they would never stay in my mouth. I guess they had other places to be. That was really frustrating though. I would want to suck on them when I was in a bad mood, and then I'd be in a WORSE mood when the hands got lost.

Anyhow, they seem to be spending more time in my mouth now, and sometimes I can get them to come to me when I need them. We'll see if I can get better at this.

More fun in Florida

I thought you might all be wondering what else I've been doing in Florida. Well, one thing that happened this week was that I discovered that those hands I always see waving around are, in fact, under my control. I know! I was as shocked as you are. So I've spent a lot of time trying to get them into my mouth. Getting them there is not too much of a problem. But keeping them there? Thats another story.

We went over to Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop's house a couple of times. The last time I met Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop was way back when I was Studs, so I don't really remember a lot about it. I was too busy gastrulating or something like that. Anyhow, here's a picture of me with Mom-Mom:

And here's a picture of me with Pop-Pop:

Yesterday Mommy's cousin's husband and their two daughters came out to visit. They are staying here at G-G and Sky King's place too. Today we all went to the Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Daddy carried me most of the time in my Baby Bjorn. I am pretty awesome at keeping my head from flopping around too much, so Daddy let me face forward. That way I could see everything.

So I bet you can guess what I did next. I'll give you a hint. Its something I do a lot!

I slept!

I didn't sleep the whole time, don't worry. I saw the flamingos, the alligators and all of the other cool animals. The best part was all the parrots. You could get your picture taken with them too, so we did that. Mommy's favorite bird is the hyacinth macaw, so she and I stood with Sky King when he held one.

Then Daddy held it, and it tried to eat my Baby Bjorn!

Luckily, I was sitting bug-style with Mommy. Otherwise I might be one ear short right now.

Then we came home and I did something else cool. I went swimming for the first time! I wore a swimsuit that I borrowed from my friend Ike. Don't I look totally cool??

Mommy held me while we went into the pool. It was fun! I didn't cry at all. I think I'm going to like swimming, just like my Mommy and Daddy do.

Anyhow, I have to go! I'm hungry, so I've got to go bug Mommy. Talk to you soon!

Posh baby

This week we're down in Florida visiting Mommy's parents, G-G and Sky King (he came up with that himself) and my great-grandparents, Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. We drove down, which I didn't really enjoy that much. I slept for a lot of the trip, but once I woke up and realized that I was STILL in my carseat?? Well, lets just say that I was not too happy about that. I like driving in the car as much as the next baby, but not for 13 hours. And not when my doggie is sitting next to me the whole time, breathing his doggie breath on me. For the last four hours of the trip, which is when I started to get upset, Mommy and the doggie switched places and she sat in the back with me. That made me feel a little bit better, so I hope she wasn't too offended when I spit up on her pants after she fed me. It was nothing personal.

Anyhow, yesterday we had a busy day of sports. First we went to a polo match at the Sarasota Polo Club, which is right near G-G and Sky King's house. That was fun, but I should be honest with you - I slept through most of it. Okay, ALL of it. Still, I felt pretty cool and posh, like I was some sort of English royalty or something. Don't those princes from England play polo? I guess the polo players knocked the ball out of bounds a few times, and guess who got the ball TWICE? G-G did. She got one for me and one for her. And then when the game was over, Daddy went out onto the field and picked up a mallet head from a polo mallet that had broken. So I got lots of souveneirs from my first polo match.

Later on we went back to the house for a Super Bowl party. Everyone was really sad that the Bears lost. I didn't really watch the game much, because I was busy being passed around to everyone. It was fun.

All that, and it was only our first day here. I wonder what else we'll do while we're here?
